Monteith’s Brewing Company

I designed and built Saatchi DGS’ new site for the iconic Monteith’s beer. A simple crafted design platform to let their newly refreshed brand shine and built for blogging so the brewing team can connect with beer boffins.

Westpac Good Business

Westpac wanted to help foster a healthy small business community so, with Saatchi DGS, setup Good Business to provide an info and advice destination.

I created the design framework as Design Director at DGS and, under the auspices of Work Work Work, provided information architecture and content development for the later tweaking and growth of the site.

Atomic Coffee Roasters

Atomic are an eclectic bunch of coffee geeks – they wanted a website that reflected their ‘rough & ready yet expert’ attitude towards what they do. I designed and built them a fully content-managed site, blog, web-shop and email newsletter system – no small task!

Everything’s easily updatable allowing the whole staff to get involved, communicating their knowledge and passion for excellent coffee.

The RNZFB

I provided DNA with initial design concepts for their revamp of the Foundation for the Blind’s website. The Foundation wanted to do more to appeal to their sighted visitors yet retain a core level of accessibility for partially sighted and blind users.

The new designs place more emphasis on attracting donations and aiding education about blindness yet retain a high level of clarity & information hierarchy in high-contrast views. The visual framework relies very little on imagery lowering any barriers to accessible implementation.

Diva Productions

Design and build on a sweet little website for Diva Productions – film & doco production company that stands up for social change and the environment.

Stephen de Wolf

Stephen de Wolf is an ad-land art director making really slick work for some of Australasia’s biggest companies. I designed and built him a grid-tastic new portfolio site that showed off his wide variety of work without getting in the way too much.

It’s all fully content managed so it can be easily kept up-to-date, handles images, video and audio with aplomb and has a secure area for browsing the work — apparently recruitment companies will tout ad portfolios around without permission… who knew?

Ruth Thomas-Edmond

Ruth makes beautiful, delicate and somewhat obsessive paintings, drawings and 3D work. Her site was designed to sit really lightly with the work and be easy to update & grow with her practice.

It’s typographically led and in certain sections designed in sympathy with the printed material it accompanies.

NZ Post

Saatchi DGS had a thought leadership project for NZ Post to generate ideas for what the future of post might look like.

Two web apps were mocked up to demonstrate the thinking and, whilst they’re far from developed, rather damn pleased with how they turned out.

New World Recipe Book

A site concept Saatchi DGS presented New World for developing their existing food content and creating deeper relationships with their consumers.

The proposed site was an editorial-led recipe engine with great photography, art direction and a homely, real flavour. We also added a sprinkling of smart UI ideas like large type views for use whilst cooking.

Sealord

Working with Saatchi DGS I provided strategy and information architecture plus some initial design directions to help kickstart their project to redevelop Sealord’s global site.

Smart Express

Smart Express (now Ticket-it) is a web application Marker developed for Courierpost’s high-volume customers to print their own shipping labels. It replaced a creaky old piece of client-based software that was complicated and expensive to maintain.

After key user research I led the interface and user experience design creating a web app that was intuitive, responsive and fully keyboard navigable. The application is now in service in warehouses and distribution centres across the country.

The Topp Twins

Work Work Work set up ~~New Zealand’s~~ the world’s favourite country singing, comic twins with a cute wee site, online store and email newsletter.

It’s somewhat rough and ready, with a popular blog (when they get around to writing), gig guide and plenty of video. The shop runs on the hosted eCommerce software Shopify so was super quick and easy to deploy. For a small investment it has been bearing up more than admirably to a truckload of business on the back of their new doco’s success.

Integ are a stalwart kiwi manufacturing company who put their monitor arms into some of the worlds swankest stores and offices.

Work Work Work re-invented Integ’s brand, logotype, collateral, website, email comms (and soon packaging). We’ve done product catalogues, brochures, promo material and much more.

Everything we do for Integ is designed to reflect their no-nonsense approach, the solidity of their products and their proud New Zealand heritage.

Design framework and information architecture for a careers web project the New Zealand Army are building with Saatchi DGS’ help.

Vantage Magazine

Vantage is a quarterly corporate magazine for trans-Tasman credit agency Veda Advantage. Gareth led a full redesign of the publication whilst at Marker as part of a wider company rebrand.

Prius 3rd Generation

A quick site concept created at Saatchi DGS for Toyota’s launch of the new Prius.

A 3D car acts as a hub for exploring layers of information — helping reinforce the Prius’ technological leaps forward as well as it’s environmental achievements.

Tui

The fact that Miss Tui is far and away the most popular part of Tui’s site probably says a lot about their drinkers.

To help the boys waste even more time online, Gareth re-designed the site in 2008 for Saatchi DGS and put together a little “make your own Tui Ad” microsite too.

Russell McVeagh

Every year Russell McVeagh compete to recruit New Zealand’s best & brightest law students. At Marker Gareth designed their annual 30+ page brochure and teamed it with a blog where potential candidates could get a real insight into the lives of current first-year lawyers.
