I love working with the web, as a designer it offers it opens up so much more than the purely visual – there’s large parts of what I do that are more product I’ve worked with some of New Zealand’s leading web, design and ad agencies for clients ranging from multi-nationals to individuals. Recently I was Design Director for Saatchi & Saatchi’s digital shop DGS but since 2009 have worked independently both under contract to agencies and directly with clients.

I love working with the web. Designing for it is often as much about product and service design as it is graphic design.
It has narrative, serendipity, flow. It also has constraints and it is constraints, not a lack of them, that are the mother of invention.
It’s not that print design what I miss about print design – whimsy. Sometimes usability and practicality.
Imagine designing a book that’s all at once a glossy hardcover coffee-tabler, a paperback for the beach, a newspaper for the commute.
What I do
Web and Application Design Beautifully crafted, elegantly usable websites that are designed for humans from the ground up. We value simplicity, attention to detail and visual language that’s subtle, real and empathetic. Our work is always developer, browser and search engine friendly.
Content Development & Editorial Design – content is the currency of the web, the meat in the sandwich, and often the hardest part of a web project. We can help identify the parts of what you do that will make great messages, stories or tools and then bring it alive with copywriting and editorial design that works hard – more interesting, readable, shareable, searchable.
Smart, sound advice with your users front of mind. We’re really excited about how the web can change business and communication so can be a great sounding board for web-based ideas and point towards possible solutions. We’re also reasonably technology agnostic so can give impartial advice about choice of platform, content management or strategy.
Working with me
We’re a small shop, and take on only a few projects at any one time. This lets us treat all our clients as big-fish whether you’re little guys like us or a corporate team. Not being over-stretched also means we can devote good process and a decent of amount time to everything we do.
The philosophy is simple, do the very best work we can, always. That good work takes a decent investment of time, energy and money from all concerned. The process should be honest, productive and fun. You’ll not see ‘suits’ and will always be talking to a senior practitioner.
Our developers, or yours, we can handle the development for your projects – either inhouse or with an appropriate partner – but are also happy to work with your current development team.
Design, ad & web agencies – everything we do for our clients we can do for yours. We work with bigger agencies on a project-by-project basis, providing strategy, IA, wireframing, design direction and small scale development. What we don’t do is ‘bum-on-seat’ freelancing – so if you’re after contract labour you’re in the wrong place.
Who we are
Work Work Work is mostly strategist & designer Gareth Price but depending on the project we work with an ensemble cast of specialist developers, designers, artists and copywriters.
Gareth is a former Design Director of Saatchi New Zealand’s digital offering Saatchi DGS and Senior Designer at interactive shop Marker. He’s worked with some of New Zealand’s leading companies including Toyota, New World, DB, Westpac, Tower Insurance and many more.
